The City of Oxford Charity

The City of Oxford Charity

The City of Oxford Charity is an amalgamation of a number of ancient charities for the benefit of the people of the City of Oxford.

The purposes of the charity are as follows:

  • The provision of housing accommodation for persons in need, hardship or distress, for those who are resident in the City of Oxford this is provided at the Almshouses known as Stone's Court in St Clements, Oxford

  • The Relief in Need of persons resident in the City who are in need, hardship or distress

  • The Relief in Need of persons resident in the City or in its neighbourhood who are sick, convalescent, disabled or infirm

  • The provision of Education assistance to persons in need who are under the age of 25 years and who reside in the city

PLEASE NOTE: The Trustees normally define ‘resident’ as someone who has resided for a minimum period of three years in the City of Oxford, and do not consider as residents those who are in the City solely for the purpose of education, for example, as a student at one of the universities or at college.
